The EcoMaratona is a new race, held on a very hilly 42.2km multi-terrain course through the Soave wine-growing region near the city of Verona in northern Italy.

Competitors run one loop on trails, dirt roads and asphalt roads. The route is very challenging. It includes about 1500 metres of climbing (and the same of descent) but you can take your time to complete the course. The time limit is eight hours.

The race forms part of the hugely popular Montefortiana, which had around 20,000 participants last year. In addition to the marathon, the event offers a half marathon, an elite road race, and various distances for fun runners and walkers.

All races start and finish in the village of Monteforte d'Alpone, situated approximately 25 kilometres to the east of Verona, or 100 kilometres to the west of Venice.
