The Europamarathon connects two parts of a city that has been divided since 1945 — Görlitz in Germany and Zgorzelec in Poland.

In 2012, around 1200 runners took part in this truly international event, and about 250 participated in the races for handcyclists, inline skaters and kickbike riders.

Entrants can choose between the 5k, the 10k, the half marathon or the marathon.

Start and finish are in Görlitz's Old Town with its unique ensemble of late-Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque houses and approximately 4000 listed buildings.

The course is undulating. The half marathon is held on entirely on German soil but the other races take runners through both Görlitz and Zgorzelec.
