Held annually in spring on the border between Germany and Poland, the Europamarathon is a truly international sports event.
It features competitions in running, handcycling, inline skating, kickbike riding and unicycling.
In 2024, however, there will only be races for runners and walkers:
- 400m kids run
- 1.5km kids run
- 5.6km run or walk
- 10km run or walk
- 21.1km half marathon
- 21.1km half marathon relay (2x10.5km)
- 42.2km marathon
- 42.2km marathon relay (4x10.5km)
The half marathon is two laps and the marathon is four laps of an undulating course through both halves of a city that has been divided in two since 1945—Görlitz in Germany and Zgorzelec in Poland.
The start/finish area is in Görlitz's Old Town with its unique ensemble of approximately 4,000 listed buildings.
