"Vienna City Marathon Winter Running Series 2012" - 1st Run
Vienna (Austria), Sunday 22 January 2012
Held from January to March in preparation for the Vienna City Marathon, the Winterlaufserie consists of three road running events in Vienna's vast Prater park.
All races take place on the same 7km-loop course. Participants can decide during the race if they want to finish after one lap (7km), two laps (14km), or three laps and a bit (21.1km) to complete the half marathon distance.
The course is flat and fast, certified and traffic-free. Entry fees are relatively high (20-24 euros) and don't include the rental fees for the timing chip (5 euros).
In 2011, over 550 runners took part in the first Lauf of the series. The half marathon winners were Markus Sostaric (1:10:31) and Carola Bendl-Tschiedel (1:28:53).
