This is Jelačić Square (Trg bana Jelačića), Zagreb's focal point.

Organized by the Zagreb Police, this 5k race features an interesting and traffic-free course through the city centre of Croatia's capital.

The two-lap course runs around Donji grad, the "Lower Town", an area of 19th-century apartment blocks, museums, theatres, academies and parks.

Start and finish is in Zrinjevac, a charming little park with a fountain and a music pavilion, popular for romantic walks under 100-year-old plane trees.

The route touches Jelačić Square (Trg bana Jelačića), Zagreb's main square and focal point, Strossmayer Square (Strossmayerov trg) with the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Marshal Tito Square (Trg maršala Tita), which is dominated by the Croatian National Theatre.

Although there are no entry fees finishers get a medal and a T-shirt.

In 2009, the winners were Zoran Žilić (15:45) and Lisa Stublić (17:09). Stefan Oprina of Romania (16:04) and Sibylle Stegmaier of Germany (19:25) were the fastest police officers.
