Zagreb's main square, Trg bana Jelačića
This 5km sightseeing race through the city centre of Croatia's capital, organized by the Zagreb Police, welcomes everyone from club runners to complete beginners.
There are no entry fees and finishers get a T-Shirt and a medal.
The interesting two-lap course takes you through Donji grad ("Lower Town"), an area of 19th-century apartment blocks, public buildings and parks.
The start and the finish are in Zrinjevac, a charming little park with a fountain and a music pavilion, popular for promenade concerts and romantic walks under 100-year-old plane trees.
At first, you run to the bustling Trg bana Jelačića ("Governor Jelačić Square"), Zagreb's main square and focal point, where seven tram lines and most locals meet.
You come back to Zrinjevac and pass Strossmayerov trg ("Strossmayer Square") with the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The race then travels to Trg maršala Tita ("Marshal Tito Square") which is dominated by the Croatian National Theatre and surrounded by academies and museums. From there it's about 500m to the start/finish area.
In 2008, the winners were Zoran Žilić (15:40) and Sanja Begović (18:51). The fastest policeman was 41-year-old Stefan Oprina from Romania's capital Bucharest (16:17).
