14th Race along the Wine Route

Bušeča vas is a tiny village on the River Krka in the Dolenjska region between Ljubljana and Zagreb, a lovely area of rolling hills, dense forests, vineyards, castles and thermal spas.

The start is close to the river at the very small private spa of Klunove Toplice (at 26-28 degrees Celsius, the thermal waters are not particularly warm).

The 9.8km race features a hilly one-lap course through the vineyards and woods south of the Krka. Most of the route is on asphalt, just about 400 metres are on trails.

A short race of 1.84km and a walking tour of approximately one hour support the event.

After the race all competitors are treated with a warm meal. The event ends at around 1.30pm, so you will have plenty of time to visit Dolenjska's smallest town Kostanjevica na Krki, beautifully situated on an island in the River Krka, or hang around in the pools of the huge spa complex of Terme Čatež. Both places are about 10km from Bušeča vas.

In 2008, 18-year-old Jan Breznik won the race in a time of 34:38. Mateja Šuštaršič led the women home in 39:50.
