Poreč (Croatia), Sunday 26 March 2017
Three hundred and fifty runners from six countries took part in last year's first edition of the Laguna Poreč Half Marathon, and more entries are expected for this year's competition.
Set on the west coast of Istria (Croatian: Istra), a peninsula in the northern Adriatic, the event features three races: 7km, 14km and a half marathon (Croatian: polumaraton).
The start and the finish are at the Zelena Laguna Resort which is situated about 4.5km from the Old Town of Poreč, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia (pictured below).
The route is a 7km-long loop that takes the runners along the coast and through the vast holiday settlements to the south of Poreč.
In 2016, the fastest half marathon finishers were Janez Mulej of Slovenia (1hr 11min 58sec) and Cornelia Moser of Austria (1hr 20min 47sec). The time limit to finish the race is three hours.
