The Mörbischer Lauftag (‘Mörbisch Running Day’) features a lovely setting on the western shore of the Neusiedler See (Hungarian: Fertő), a 36km-long and very shallow lake that is shared by two countries — Austria and Hungary. The lake is to a large extent surrounded by reed beds.

All races begin and end in the picturesque village of Mörbisch am See, which sits on the border with Hungary.

Children run either 300m or 800m, depending on their age group.

The 5k race is six laps of a flat 833m-long loop course through the village.

Participants in the half marathon run four laps through vineyards close to the shore of the lake. The route is flat and fast. Each lap features just about five metres of ascent.

The event also offers 25km bicycle time trial races on Saturday afternoon and a 125km bicycle marathon (Radmarathon) around Lake Neusiedl on Sunday morning.
