Held every year on Epiphany, a Christian feast day that is celebrated in many countries on 6 January, the Marcia dei Magi is a non-competitive event that attracts several hundred runners and walkers.

Three routes are on offer, approximately 7km, 15km and 21km long.

Starting and finishing in the village of Campolonghetto, which is located near the old fortress town of Palmanova in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in the north-east of Italy, all routes are very flat loops through farmland and villages on the vast Bassa Friulana Plain.
