Held on three Sundays between January and March, the VCM Winterlauf Serie (‘Winter Running Series’) aims at preparing runners for the Vienna City Marathon which will be held on 10 April 2016.

All races take place on a 7km loop course through the Prater, Vienna's largest public park. The course is completely flat, AIMS-certified, and closed to all traffic.

Participants can decide during the race if they want to run one lap (7km), two laps (14km), or three laps and a bit (21.1km half marathon).

The third event in March also offers the possibility to run four laps (28km).

In 2015, each Winterlauf event had approximately 800 participants.
