NATO Partnership Running Festival — NATO RUN 2015
Budapest (Hungary), Sunday 27 September 2015
Organized by the Budapest Athletic Federation, the NATO RUN offers a 10k race, a 10k relay for teams of two runners (6km + 4km), and a 4k for runners and walkers.
Last year, around 2,000 runners took part in the 10k race which features a highly scenic point-to-point route through Budapest's city centre.
The 10k begins at Vérmező ("Bloodfield"), a public park at the foot of Castle Hill in Buda, the western part of the city.
Competitors run across the magnificent Chain Bridge (pictured) to Pest (the eastern part of the city), along Andrássy út (Budapest's grandest boulevard), across the impressive Hősök tere (Heroes' Square), and through the vast Városliget (City Park).
Compared to some other big running events in Budapest the entry fees are very low, ranging from €7 to €12 for the 10k race.
In 2014, the fastest 10k finishers were Dániel Bencze of Hungary (32min 48sec) and Luiza Gega of Albania (34min 5sec). The time limit to complete the course is 75min.
