Faak am See (Austria), Sunday 5 July 2015

Faakerseelauf, Faaker See, Austria - the route offers fine views of the Karawanks mountain chain (Copyright © 2015 Hendrik Böttger / runinternational.eu)

Participants in the Faakerseelauf run either one lap (10.55km Panoramalauf) or two laps (21.1km Halbmarathon) around the Faaker See, a bathing lake in Austria's state of Kärnten, situated at the foot of the Karawanks mountain range on the border with Slovenia.

The route is rather hilly (about 85m of ascent per lap).

Competitors run through lovely scenery and pretty villages, mostly on asphalt roads or cycleways. Approximately one kilometre of each lap is run on forest trails.

Last year, the Panoramalauf and the half marathon combined had 770 finishers.
