7th ‘Lighthouse Run’ 2014
Podersdorf am See (Austria), Sunday 18 May 2014
The Leuchtturmlauf is held on the eastern shore of the Neusiedler See, Austria's largest lake, located on the border with Hungary.
Competitors run either one lap (3.3km), two laps (6.6km) or three laps (10km) of a flat and scenic course through parkland in Podersdorf am See, the most popular resort in the region. The route is on asphalt and gravel paths along the shore.
Each lap includes an out-and-back run to the lighthouse (Leuchtturm) which stands at the end of a 200-metre-long pier.
In the last years, when the event was held on Easter Monday, the Leuchtturmlauf attracted approximately 300 runners each year. In 2013, the fastest 10k finishers were Lukas Pallitsch (31:15) and Zsanett Mócsó (40:03).
