Blossoming apple orchards and snow-capped 3000-metre mountain peaks provide a superb backdrop for this popular half marathon in South Tyrol, an autonomous alpine province in the far north of Italy where German is the predominant language.

The start and finish are in Merano (German: Meran), a beautiful spa town beloved for its mild climate and lush Mediterranean vegetation.

Competitors run three laps — at first a 4km loop through Meran and then two loops (ca. 8.5km each) through the orchards between Merano and the pretty Tyrolean village of Lagundo (German: Algund). The route is gently undulating.

In 2012, the race had almost 1500 finishers. In addition to the half marathon the event offers a 4.2-kilometre fun run, the "Run4Fun".
