The Półmaraton Piła is one of Polands most prestigious road running races. Over 2,000 runners took part in the half marathon last year. The fastest finishers were Martin Muia Mukule of Kenya (1:02:25) and Agnieszka Gortel of Poland (1:14:43).

Situated in a low-lying region in north-western Poland, Piła is a largely modern town of about 75,000 people. There aren't many sites of historic interest but it's a pleasant and welcoming town with lots of green spaces and parks. Piła is surrounded by dense forests, and there are many rivers and lakes nearby.

The start and the finish of the half marathon are approximately one kilometre apart. The route consists of a 3-kilometre loop through the town centre, followed by an 18-kilometre loop through residential and green areas.

The route is mostly flat but it includes an undulating section in the middle of the course when runners cross the River Gwda in the Zielona Dolina ("Green Valley").
