15th Schneeberg Mountain Race 2011
Around 300 runners took part in last year's race against the "Schneebergbahn", a historic steam train which travels up the Schneeberg in the Eastern Alps in Austria.
The winners were Jonathan Wyatt of New Zealand (53:54) and Antonella Confortola of Italy (pictured, 1:06:38). The train finished 12th overall (1:05:19).
The route is 10 kilometres long, and the vertical gain is 1200 metres.
The start is in Puchberg, a resort at the foot of the mountain, located about 75 kilometres from Vienna. The finish is at an elevation of 1800 metres at the railway station on Schneeberg.
Competitors run on paved roads, dirt roads and mountain trails.
