4th Tarvisio Mountain Run 2011
Tarvisio (Italy), Sunday 19 June 2011
This uphill mountain race brings runners to the ski resort of Tarvisio in the north-eastern corner of Italy, very close to the borders with Austria and Slovenia.
The start is on Tarvisio's main square. The route is 11 kilometres long, and the total vertical gain is about 1200 metres. Competitors run on ski slopes, trails and dirt roads. The finish line is at the pilgrimage church on Mount Lussari (Santuario Monte Lussari, 1770m).
In 2009, the event hosted the Italian Mountain Running Championships but last year it had just 59 finishers. The winners were Austria's Robert Stark (58:32) and Helga Tomaschitz (1:16:43).
