More than 450 runners took part in last year's second Lauf of the Winterlaufserie, a series of three road running events, held over the winter in Vienna's Prater park.

Participants choose between the 7k (one lap), the 14k (two laps) and the half marathon (three laps plus 97.5 metres). Runners can decide during the race which distance they want to run.

The route is an absolutely flat and fast 7km-loop, which is traffic-free and certified. Most of the course runs along the Prater Hauptallee, a more than 4km-long avenue through the park.

The start and the finish are near the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Austria's largest football stadium.

In 2010, the top half marathon finishers were Christian Pflügl (1:10:42) and Tanja Eberhart (1:20:59).
