Over 200 runners took part in last year's Tek po vinski cesti, which takes place in the lovely Krka River Valley in south-eastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia.

The main race is 9.65 kilometres long and follows a hilly route through fields, woods, vineyards and villages. Most of the race is run along asphalt roads, approximately one kilometre is on trails.

The event also offers a 1.8k run, children's races and a guided 1-hour walking tour.

The start and finish is at the rustic thermal spa of Klunove Toplice in the little village of Bušeča vas, located on the right bank of the River Krka.

The village is around 10 kilometres from the hugely popular spa complex of Terme Čatež, and the same distance from Kostanjevica na Krki, a small town beautifully situated on an island in the river.

In 2009, the winners were Jan Breznik (33:27) and Mateja Šuštaršič (40:36).
