21st "Mödling Old Town Advent Run"
Mödling (Austria), Sunday 28 November 2010
Held every year on Advent Sunday, the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, this road running event attracts a large number of competitors of all abilities, from fun runners to elite athletes.
Over 800 runners took part in last year's races through the town of Mödling, located just outside Austria's capital city Vienna.
The start and the finish are in Mödling's pretty but very small old town.
The main race is the 10.5k run. Participants run a short loop around the old town, and then three longer loops, mostly through residential areas.
The 5.2k run consists of a short loop and one longer loop.
After the race, many runners warm up with a cup of mulled wine on the Christmas market.
In 2009, the winners were Zsolt Benedek (31:44) and Ida Kovács (38:13), both of Hungary.
