Over 200 runners of all ages took part in last year's Adventlauf which is held yearly in December in the resort of Podersdorf on the eastern shore of the Neusiedler See, Austria's largest lake.

The southern part of Lake Neusiedl is in Hungary, and a fair number of Hungarian runners crossed the nearby border to take part in the event.

The route is 5.8 kilometres (three laps). Children run 1,000 metres.

Podersdorf is a very small town of 2000 people. It's the only town that's right on the lake. Most of the shore is fringed by vast reed beds.

In 2009, the winners were Lukas Pallitsch (19:06) and Elisabeth Peltner (21:57).
