What a beautiful setting for a running event! Start and finish are on a huge grassy airfield, surrounded by alpine mountain peaks of up to 2500 metres.

The event is staged in Bovec, a small ski and holiday resort in the Soča River Valley in the far north-west of Slovenia, close to the Italian border.

Entrants have the choice between the 10k multi-terrain race and the 3.2k cross-country race around the airfield.

The races start together at 12.30. After about 1.5 kilometres the 10k turns right and follows a trail down to the ice-cold, crystal-clear River Soča. Participants run along the river, a loop through woods, fields and a village, and then back uphill to the airfield. A short section in the village is on asphalt.

Don't miss the children's races in the morning! The place will be swarming with kids.

In 2009, the winners of the main race were Mitja Kosovelj (30:46) and Lucija Krkoč (37:32).
