Leopoldi Race of the LCC-Vienna 2009

The Leopoldilauf incorporates a half marathon and a 7km race.

The event is held on 15 November, the feast day of Saint Leopold III, patron saint of Austria and of the city of Vienna, who died on 15 November 1136.

Like the other road running events in the Prater park, organized by the athletics club LCC-Wien, the race offers a good chance to clock a personal record.

It follows the same route as the "Herbstmarathon" and the "Eisbärlauf" winter series - a very flat and fast 7km-lap with one turning point in each lap. Most of the route is on an out-and back section of the Prater Hauptallee. This may be a bit dull but the course is traffic-free, entirely in the woods, and certified by AIMS. Start and finish are near the Ernst-Happel football stadium.

In 2008, the half marathon winners were Günter Kickmaier (1:16:20) and Regina Liebert (1:29:39).
