Pécs-Harkány Country Road Race 2009

The 25km road race from Pécs to Harkány is a classic in the Hungarian race calendar. This year it will celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The start is in the historic town of Pécs with its fine examples of Islamic architecture. The race follows the undulating country road to the spa town of Harkány, renowned for its thermal baths - a great place to relax in the steaming hot pools after the race. Participants get free entry to the pools.

The event incorporates a relay race for teams of three runners (8.5 + 9 + 7.5km).

In 2008, 432 individual runners and 99 teams finished the race. The winners were Balázs Ott (1:20:05) and Petra Teveli (1:28:41).
