Bled 10k Night Race 2009
The 10k night race at Lake Bled, Slovenia's most favoured Alpine tourist destination, has quickly become one of the most popular running events in the country. More than 1000 runners, about half of them women, took part in last year's 2nd edition of the race.
The picture postcard emerald-green lake is surely reason enough to visit the place, and few runners can resist the temptation of a kremšnita, Bled's famous cream-cake, after the race. Running one and a half laps around the lake on a mildy undulating route is not a too demanding task, and many still have the energy to dance to live music until the early hours of the morning.
If you don't feel like running 10km, take part in the 1.2km Recreational Run, for which there's no entry fee but a kremšnita to all finishers.
The fastest 10k runners in 2008 were Darja Kokalj (37:04) and Boštjan Hrovat (32:25).
