Held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania's second-largest city with a population of about 290,000 people, the annual Cluj-Napoca Marathon is one of the most popular of all running events in the Transylvania region.

The event offers races for all abilities. Entries are limited, so don’t wait too long with signing up.

  • 400m-800m-1.2km family run (one child and one adult run together; on Saturday)

  • 21.1km half marathon
  • 42.2km marathon
  • 4 x 10.55km marathon relay

Starting on the athletics track of the Cluj Arena, a modern 30,000-seat stadium which is situated on the Someșul Mic River near the city centre, the 42.2km marathon is two laps of a mainly flat course.

The route travels along both banks of the river, through the 800m-long Parcul Central (Central Park) and through the city centre with its many magnificent historic buildings.
