Held on a very scenic 26km-long point-to-point course through the Dolomites in the Trentino province in Italy, the Marcialonga Running is a popular running event that attracts a crowd of well over 1,000 runners.

The race is run on roads and trails along the Avisio river, starting in Moena (pictured), a small town situated at an elevation of 1,165 metres in the Val di Fassa, and finishing in the ski resort of Cavalese which is at 983 metres above sea level in the Val di Fiemme.

The first 22km are downhill (305m of descent), and the last 4km are uphill (123m of ascent).

It is possible to form a team of three runners to run the race as a relay (10km+8km+8km).
