With well over 1,000 finishers, the Kékes Csúcsfutás (Kekes Peak Run) in Hungary is the biggest of all mountain races featured in our runinternational Race Guide.

The route is 11.6 kilometres long. It includes 671 metres of elevation gain.

The course follows the road from the village of Mátrafüred (343m), which sits at the foot of the Mátra mountain range, to the summit of Kékes, Hungary's highest peak (1,014m).

After the race, participants have to walk back to Mátrafüred but they can take a shorter trail through the forest.

Since 2022, the event also offers a trail race from Mátrafüred to Kékes. The route is 11.54 kilometres long and includes 689 metres of ascent.
