The Tatai Tó Futás (‘Tata Lake Run’) in Hungary takes runners around the beautiful 2.5-kilometre-long Öreg-tó (Old Lake) in Tata, a small old town located about 65 kilometres from the capital Budapest.

With seven race distances to choose from, it's an event for the whole family:

• 500m (children 6 years and under)
  
• 2km (children 7 to 10 years old)
  
• 3.5km (8 years and over)
  
• 7km (10 years and over)
  
• 14km (18 years and over)
  
• 21km (18 years and over)
  
• 42km (18 years and over)
  

Starting at the Új Kajakház és Ökoturisztikai Központ (New Kayak House and Ecotourism Center) on the eastern shore, the route is a 7-kilometre loop around the lake.

So, the half marathon is three laps and the marathon is six laps.

The race is run on a mix of asphalt and gravel paths. The course is flat and traffic-free.
