Die Generalprobe (‘Dress Rehearsal’) gives runners the opportunity to test their shape five weeks before the Berlin Marathon.

Formerly known as Berliner Straßenlauf (‘Berlin Road Race’), the event attracts more then 3,000 participants.

Two races are available:

  • 10.5km Viertelmarathon (quarter marathon)
  • 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon)

The course is a certified 10.5-kilometre loop through the relatively-affluent south-western part of Germany's capital. Half marathoners run the course twice.

Starting on Schloßstraße, one of Berlin's main shopping streets, participants run through the leafy localities of Steglitz, Dahlem, Schmargendorf, Wilmersdorf and Friedenau, passing many elegant villas, the Botanical Garden and several buildings of the Free University of Berlin.
