Held annually in the summer in the relatively-affluent south-western part of Germany's capital city Berlin, the Berliner Straßenlauf is a road running event with about 2,000 to 4,000 participants in two races:
- 10.5km Viertelmarathon (quarter marathon)
- 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon)
The course is a certified 10.5-kilometre loop. Half marathoners run the course twice.
Starting on Schloßstraße, one of Berlin's main shopping streets, participants run through the leafy localities of Steglitz, Dahlem, Schmargendorf, Wilmersdorf and Friedenau, passing many elegant villas, the Botanical Garden and several buildings of the Free University of Berlin.
