The Internationaler Chemnitzer Citylauf (ICC) replaces the Chemnitz Marathon which was held annually between 2008 and 2016.

It offers a 10km race, a 3x3.33km relay for teams of three runners, a 3.33km run, and a shorter race for children.

The 10k road race is three laps of a flat course through the city centre of Chemnitz, a city of 250,000 people in Sachsen (Saxony), Germany.

The start and the finish are at the gigantic Karl Marx Monument (pictured) which reminds us that the city was for 37 years, from 1953 until 1990, named Karl-Marx-Stadt by the former GDR authorities,
