The Weidatalmarathon is a multi-terrain running and nordic walking event held in the Thüringer Schiefergebirge (Thuringian Highland), a hill range in the state of Thüringen (Thuringia) in Germany.
Offering races for all ages and fitness levels, it's an event for the whole family:
- 800m kids' run
- 1.6km kids' run
- 6km run and nordic walking
- 11km run and nordic walking
- 21km run and nordic walking
- 32km run and nordic walking
- 46km run
Starting and finishing at an elevation of about 400 metres in the village of Weißendorf, the routes are mainly on trails and very scenic.
Participants in the 46km ultramarathon run around two reservoirs, Weidatalsperre and Talsperre Zeulenroda, tackling approximately 500 metres of ascent. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is about 125 metres.
