Held every year in spring in the venerable old city of Regensburg in the state of Bayern (Bavaria) in Germany, this road running event offers:
- 10.55km Viertelmarathon (quarter marathon)
- 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon)
- 31.65km Dreiviertelmarathon (three-quarter marathon)
- 42.2km Marathon
The event also includes races for children (on Saturday, one day before the marathon) and for nordic walkers.
Starting and finishing at the Donaupark in the western part of the city, the course is mostly flat and passes a great number of outstanding buildings in the medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Some sections in the historic city centre are on cobbles.
The half marathon is one lap, the three-quarter marathon is two laps (half marathon plus quarter marathon) and the full marathon is three laps (half marathon followed by two quarter marathon laps).
The half marathon route includes a loop on a 1.3km-long systems test course for test vehicles, located on the eastern edge of the city.
