Saturday 8 May 2021 - Cancelled!
Held yearly in May on Helgoland (English: Heligoland), a tiny North Sea island located about fifty kilometres off the German coast, the Helgoland Marathon stands out as a unique running event.
Two race options are available for participants:
- 5.8km Mini-Marathon
- 42.2km Marathon
The marathon consists of five laps of a very challenging course that winds its way around almost every corner of the island.
Starting and finishing at the Südstrand beach, the route takes the runners on paved paths through the Unterland (the low-lying parts of Helgoland) as well as around the Oberland plateau.
The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is approximately fifty metres.
The time limit to complete the course is five and a half hours.
