The Fackellauf (‘Torch Run’), or Bieg przy Pochodniach in Polish, is a cross-border running event held annually in the historic city of Görlitz-Zgorzelec.

It attracts approximately 200 runners from both sides of the Lausitzer Neiße river (Polish: Nysa Łużycka) which cuts the city in two—Görlitz in Germany and Zgorzelec in Poland.

Two race distances are available:

  • ca. 3.9km (one lap)
  • ca. 7.8km (two laps)

Starting at the Altstadtbrücke (Most Staromiejski), a footbridge that connects the two parts of the city, participants run along the Polish and the German bank of the river, crossing two torch-lit bridges.
