The Schwedenlauf offers three road races through the town centre of Wismar, a medieval Hanseatic port on Germany's Baltic coast:
- 1.1km
- 5.3km
- 10.2km
The 5.3km race is one lap and the 10.2km race is two laps of an undulating loop course through the Altstadt (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and through the areas west and south of the Old Town.
Some sections are run on cobbles.
The Schwedenlauf forms part of the Schwedenfest (15-18 August 2024), an annual street festival that remembers the time when Wismar was under Swedish rule (1648-1803).
