Held in Burghausen, an ancient town on the border between Germany and Austria, the Salzach Brückenlauf ("Salzach Bridge Run") features a magnificent setting, a beautiful course and many fantastic views of the world's longest castle complex, the 1,051-metre-long Burg zu Burghausen in Bayern (Bavaria), Germany.

Every year, the event attracts an international field of more than 1,000 runners and walkers of all ages. These races are available:

  • 400m Eltern-Kind-Lauf (parent-and-child fun run)
  • 3.2km Volkslauf
  • 5.5km Walking
  • 8.8km Hauptlauf

All races begin and end on the colourful Stadtplatz at the foot of the castle.

The 3.2km route runs through Burghausen's Old Town, across the Salzach river into Austria, along the river, and then across another bridge back to Germany.

Participants in the 8.8km race run two laps (3.2km + 5.6km), crossing the border four times. The second lap includes an undulating run on gravel paths around a lovely bathing and rowing lake.

The Salzach Brückenlauf supports local people and organizations in need.
