The Aalborg Brutal Marathon in Denmark features, as you may guess, a very challenging course.

The 42.195km race consists of an 800m warm-up loop followed by six laps of a hilly 6.9km-long loop course through residential areas, woods and parkland in the south-western part of Denmark's fourth-largest city.

The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is about 50 metres.

From start to finish, the route includes approximately 620 metres of ascent.

Around 80 percent of the course is run on asphalt roads, 10 percent on gravel roads and 10 percent on forest trails.

The event also offers a half marathon (400m + 3x6.9km; 310 metres of ascent).
