The Ostrava City Marathon takes runners through the central parts of Czechia's third-largest city.

Built on coal and steel, Ostrava is a lively place and well worth a visit for its immense industrial heritage, its many cultural events, top-class ice hockey matches and it's marathon, the oldest in the country.

The event hosts races for every level of runner:

  • 300m - 666m - 1,050m kids' races
  • 4.2km charity run
  • 10.55km quarter marathon
  • 21.1km half marathon
  • 42.2km marathon
  • 6 x 6km relay

All races begin and end on Masarykovo náměstí, the main square.

The full marathon is four laps of a mainly flat course through the city centre, along the Ostravice river and through the Komenského sady park.

The above photo shows runners passing the Nová radnice which features the tallest town hall tower in the Czech Republic.
