The Ostrava City Marathon takes runners through the central parts of Ostrava, the third-largest city in the Czech Republic.
Built on coal and steel, Ostrava is a lively place and well worth a visit for its immense industrial heritage, many cultural events, top-class ice hockey matches and, of course, the City Marathon.
The event hosts races for every level of runner:
- 60m - 700m children's races
- 3.4km mini marathon (non-competitive fun run)
- 10km
- 21.1km half marathon
- 42.2km marathon
- 6 x 6km relay
Starting and ending on Masarykovo náměstí, the main square, the full marathon is four laps of a mainly flat course which runs through the city centre, through the Komenského sady park and along the Ostravice river.
