The first race of the Night Run series, which is held between April and October in several different cities in the Czech Republic, takes place in the steel city of Ostrava, the third-largest city in the country with a population of about 290,000, situated in the Moravskoslezský kraj (Moravian-Silesian Region) near the border with Poland.

Entrants can choose between two race distances, 5k (one lap, start at 8pm) or 10k (two laps, start at 9pm).

Participants must wear a čelovka (headlamp) during the race.

Starting on Ostrava's main square, Masarykovo náměstí (pictured above), competitors run along the Ostravice river and through the 1.8km-long Komenského sady park ...

The event also offers children's races and a non-competitive 2k Family Run.
