Sunday 18 October 2020 - Cancelled!
The Havířovská desítka ("Havířov 10k") takes place annually in October in Havířov, a town of about 72,000 inhabitants in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic.
Havířov is Czechia's youngest town, founded after World War Two in a coal-mining and steel-producing area near Ostrava, the third-largest city in the country.
The event begins with the kids' run at 10.00am, followed the 5k race at 10.30am, the 500m fun run for seniors (61+) at 11.30am and the 10k at 12noon.
The 10k race is open to individual runners as well as to relay teams of four runners (4 x 2.5km).
Starting at náměstí Republiky, Havířov's main square (pictured below), the 5k is one lap and the 10k is two laps of a flat course through the town centre which was built in the 1950s in the style of socialist realism.
