Held annually in October in Croatia's capital city Zagreb, the Zagrebački maraton features a 10k race, a half marathon, a full marathon and a marathon relay run for teams of four runners.

All races begin and end on Trg bana Jelačića (Ban Jelačić Square), the main square.

The half marathon is one lap and the marathon is two laps of a relatively flat course.

At first, competitors run out and back to the suburb of Dubec in the eastern part of the city, passing the zoo and the 35,000-seat Stadion Maksimir which serves as the home stadium of the Dinamo Zagreb football club.

Then, the route heads westwards (also out and back) along Ilica, Zagreb's main shopping street.

A new marathon route will be introduced in 2020. Details will be published on the official event website.
