Held yearly in Stinatz, a very pretty village in the Burgenland state in Austria, the Stinatzer Abendlauf & Halbmarathon ("Stinatz Evening Run & Half Marathon") attracts over 200 participants, mainly from Austria and neighbouring countries such as Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia and Germany.
The event offers:
- 1km and 2km children's races
- 4.2km run
- 8.4km run
- 8.4km nordic walking
- 21.1km half marathon
Starting on Hauptplatz in the centre of the village, the route is an undulating 4.2km loop. The half marathon is five laps of this course.
The kids' races start at 4:30pm. The gun for the longer races goes off at 5pm.
Stinatz is a bilingual village. More than half of the residents are Burgenlandkroaten, descendants of Croats who emigrated to the area in the 16th century.
