Sunday 29 March 2020 - Cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak!
This Halbmarathon (half marathon) is held each spring in Graz, Austria's second city with a population of around 290,000 residents.
With about 1,200 or more participants, and a range of races to please all runners (7km, 14km, 21.1km), it is one of the most popular early-season running events in the region.
It is possible to form a team of three to run the half marathon as a relay.
Nordic walkers can take part in the 7km race.
The route is a 7.03km-long loop which is AIMS-certified, traffic-free and mostly flat.
The start and the finish are at the football pitch of the Steirischer Fussball-Verband (StFV) which is approximately two and a half kilometres south of the city centre in an industrial and commercial part of Graz where the route passes big warehouses and furniture stores as well as the slaughterhouse and the prison, Austria's third-largest.
Half of the route, however, runs along the banks of the Mur river and through the very pretty Altstadt (Old Town), and this part of the course is very scenic.
