The Run in the sun, also known as Südburgenland Marathon, was held annually between 2003 and 2010 in the Burgenland, the easternmost state of Austria.
It was a running event for the whole family, popular with athletes of all ages from Austria and neighbouring countries such as Hungary and Slovenia.
The event offered a 42.2km marathon, a 21.1km half marathon, a marathon relay and a number of shorter races for fun runners, children and nordic walkers.
The start/finish area was in Güssing, a small town in the Südburgenland, the southern part of the Burgenland.
Situated just about eight kilometres from the border with Hungary, Güssing is home to the Burgenland's oldest castle, the imposing Burg Güssing:
