Held annually in Linz, Austria's third city with a population of about 200,000, the Linz Marathon offers the following road races:

  • 10.5km Viertelmarathon (quarter marathon)
  • 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon for runners, inline skaters and handbikers)
  • 42.2km Marathon (for individual runners and relay teams of four runners)

All routes are mainly flat and fast, starting on VÖEST-Brücke, a motorway bridge across the River Danube, and finishing on Hauptplatz, Linz's largest square.

The start line and the finish line are approximately two kilometres apart.

Participants in the quarter marathon start off at 8.30am, whereas the half and the full marathon runners set off in a mass start at 9.30am. The field splits after 21 kilometres.

The event also features a number of kids' races which are held on Saturday, one day before the marathon.
