Held annually in Linz, Austria's third city with a population of about 210,000, the Linz Marathon offers the following road races:

  • 70m--530m Juniormarathon (kids races; on Saturday)
  • 5km
  • 10.5km Viertelmarathon (quarter marathon)
  • 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon for runners, inline skaters and handbikers)
  • 42.2km Marathon (for individual runners and relay teams of four runners)

All routes are mainly flat and fast.

The quarter, the half and the full marathon routes begin on VÖEST-Brücke, a motorway bridge across the River Danube, and end on Hauptplatz, Linz's largest square. The start line and the finish line are approximately two kilometres apart.

Participants in the quarter marathon usually start off at 8.30am, whereas the half and the full marathon runners set off in a mass start at 9.30am. The field splits after 21 kilometres.
