Vom See zum Berg ("From the Lake to the Mountain") is an uphill road race held annually in the Ossiacher Tauern hill range in Austria's state of Kärnten (Carinthia).

The route is challenging (9.2 kilometres long with 518 metres of ascent) but, compared to many other mountain running events in our runinternational Race Guide, it is not too demanding.

Starting in the resort of Velden at the western end of the Wörthersee, the race is run on asphalt roads through lovely countryside and three pretty villages: Kranzlhofen, Oberjeserz and Köstenberg.

The finish line is at an elevation of 922 metres at the Alpengasthof Obersakoparnig.

From there, finishers walk one and a half kilometres back down to the event centre in Köstenberg where they can pick up their clothing and take a shower.

During the race, the course is closed to all traffic.

Update (May 2022):

The 15th and final edition of the event took place on 25 July 2020. The race will not be held any more in the future.
