The Salzach Brückenlauf ("Salzach Bridge Run") is one of our top recommendations for running in Central Europe.

The route takes the runners through the medieval town centre of Burghausen in Bayern, Germany, across the border into Austria, along the Salzach river, and around a beautiful lake at the foot of the world's longest castle.

Last year, the event welcomed a record number of participants. More than 600 finished the 8.8km race, around 500 took part in the 3.2km run, and almost 100 completed the 5.5km walk.
