The Półmaraton Ślężański (Ślęża Half Marathon) is a highly-popular road running event in the Lower Silesia Province in south-western Poland.

Last year, the race had a record 4,417 finishers. The field is capped at 5,000 runners.

Starting and finishing in the small town of Sobótka, the route is one lap of a certified course around Mount Ślęża (718m, pictured), an ancient holy place for local tribes. Nowadays, Ślęża is a protected area and a popular hiking destination.

The route is very scenic as it runs through rural areas and woods and pretty villages. And it's certified by the Polish Athletic Association PZLA. But it's not flat at all. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is 208 metres!

The time limit to finish the half marathon is three hours.
